Covered their Verdant World with Dust.

The Sumerians first converted things

Into numbers

To tax the poor.

The Egyptians to measure out

Monuments to Dead Kings

And to count their slaves.

No great harm perhaps

Until, in the Land of Kali

The Zero was conceived.

Then Leibniz

Made the Modern possible

By counting in Ones and Naughts.

Now, Our Verdant World

Is shadowed by its digital simulacrum.

And within the Binary Haze

We can see

That Our Days

Too, are numbered.
